I build scrapers mama
Feeling rather un-inventive today (and busy since we had a play-date and 21 pieces of laundry to iron) - I panicked when A asked what our "activity" for the day was. See this is the problem with routines and expectations - kids learn to depend on them and can get very disappointed when we are unprepared, tired, hungover or just plain lazy!
I looked over my shoulder and picked up the only thing in sight. A copy of the FT Times. "Here it is" I exclaimed, A grinning in anticipation. And when I opened it up, the first thing I saw was a picture of a massive bank and the title "HSBC sets aside $2bn to cover fines." Thinking quickly, I uttered, "We are going to build sky-scrapers." For about 15 minutes I explained to her what sky-scrapers were and we searched the FT times and the internet for more examples of sky-scrapers.
We each then set off to build one. I made a sky-scraper and she made what she calls a "sky-car-scraper" ... I'll be more inventive next time since I am pretty sure I won't be able to get away with this too often.
